The confidentiality of all information pertaining to the editing and peer review process for submitted articles is mandated for editors, authors, and reviewers. Peer review is secret and anonymous, unless explicitly stated differently as part of open peer review; reviewers' names are kept private. Reviewers are required to keep manuscript confidentially. Reviewers who want to consult with other experts while evaluating a manuscript should speak with the editor beforehand, make sure that anonymity is upheld, and send the names of any such experts to the journal along with the completed report. Correspondence with the journal, reviewer reports, and other confidential material may not be published, divulged, or otherwise publicized without prior written approval, regardless of whether a submitted work is finally published. Reviewers should understand that we take great care to maintain the anonymity of their identities and that it is our policy to do so. However, in the event that an identity disclosure lawsuit is successful, we cannot promise that this secrecy would be upheld.
